ZeroPointZero
We all are slaves of time. An invisible timeline is the conductive line that put together every moment of our life. This line seems infinite but as many old people might tell you, time is final illusion. So many things to do, so little time.
ZeropoinZero is an unisex casual watch. Consists in two stainless steel handcuffs, with a LCD display on each one.
This project has been published by many magazines around the wold, please check the press and publications section to know more. I you want to include images of this project in a publication, please contact me and I send you high resolution images.
This idea came to my mind when I saw some wrinkles I was not aware I had before. Time is a cruel mistress, and time keeps us alive too. Then I remember this poem by Julio Cortazar, one of my favorite writers and there it was, the inspiration for creating the ZeroPointZero. Please enjoy his writing.
Preamble to the instructions on how to wind a watch
Think of this: when they present you with a watch, they are gifting you with a tiny flowering hell, a wreath of roses, a dungeon of air. They aren’t simply wishing the watch on you, and many more, and we hope it will last you, it’s a good grand, Swiss, seventeen rubies; they aren’t just giving you this minute stonecutter which will bind you by the wrist and walk along with you. They are giving you – they don’t know it, it’s terrible that they don’t know it – they are gifting you with a new fragile and precarious piece of yourself, something that’s yours but not a part of your body, that you have to strap to your body like your belt, like a tiny, furious bit of something hanging onto your wrist. They gift you with the job of having to wind it every day, an obligation to wind it, so that it goes on being a watch, they gift you with the obsession of looking into jewelry-shop windows to check the exact time, check the radio announcer, check the telephone service. They give you the gift of fear, someone will steal it from you, it’ll fall on the street and get broken. They give you the gift of your trademark and the assurance that it’s a trademark better than others, they gift you with the impulse to compare your watch with other watch.

Truth be told, most of the traffic I get to my website is because of this handcuff-watch. The response I had from this design has been amazing, people from all over the world had email me asking when are you going to introduce them to the market? Yes, I knew you where going to ask too, and I ask my self the same question. I normally reply, very soon, I just need to find the manufacturer, I need to convince this engineer, etc. I am very glad to say that, this is the first time in the life of this project I finally have the right people, the manufacturer and the legal structure to start pitching this idea to investors. Producing a watch like this is not exactly easy or cheap, and those are some the reasons I want to do it and there are many things involved in the logistics of it that certainly I would need to stop doing design for a while and being focus on this project for at least three months.
Everything comes at the right time, and one day we will see this watch in an online catalog. Please send me an email and I will keep you posted of the advances in this project.
