H2S Monitoring System

Small lesson of chemistry.   Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic and flammable gas.  Being heavier than air, it tends to accumulate at the bottom of poorly ventilated spaces. Although very pungent at first, it quickly deadens the sense of smell, so potential victims may be unaware of its presence until it is too late.

Why is that information relevant in the province of Alberta, Canada?

About 10% of total global emissions of H 2S is due to human activity. By far the largest industrial route to H 2S occurs in petroleum refineries, and Alberta being considered as the heart of the Oil and Gas industry of Canada, the possibility of an emergency due the liberation of a great amount of H2S is a habitual concern in the province.

H2S Monitoring System is an on-line tool capable of displaying the levels of H2S in the air.  It collects the information different sensors provide across the province, sending information like velocity and direction of the wind, particles of H2S, weather conditions and the status of the sensor itself.

Once this information is collected the system displays a series of stats according to a specific time period.  This helps to see the regular cycles of H2S liberation in oil and gas facilities over the years.

In case the levels of H2S gas reach an amount it could be consider dangerous or even deadly, the system automatically informs the local authority and closest populated areas.   The system also offers first hand assistance and helps to react pertinently without inducing the user into panic.

Once again I had the pleasure to collaborate with VHS consulting, they are in the 10 top of my favorite clients ever.
