The three kind of business mentors.

Posted in Entrepreneurship, Mentoring, Opinion

In my life I have found three kind of business mentors. I categorized them by the moment they smile.

The mentor who smiles when is teaching you something that will be useful to you in the future.

They look at you and say one day you this will save you lots of headaches. Normally we remember these mentors when we just did the opposite of what they said, made a huge mistake and while we are trying to fix the situation, and we said to our self: damn he was right!

The second king of mentor is the one who smiles when he sees you are applying something he or she taught you.

That means, he teaches a lesson, pushes you to put in practice and gives you feedback of what you are doing. They are willing to see you sweating, hold you when you fail and embrace you when you cross the finish line.

The third kind of mentor is the one who smiles when you become a mentor.

Certainly it is expected that with enough time, dedication and energy, young people that just started their own path one day will become a mentor and return the same time, dedication and energy the most experienced members of the community invested.

As a mentee, I recognize that having a mentor is a privilege, and I invite everyone who is in my position, to pay attention to your mentor and put your best effort to make him or her smile for the longest time possible.
